The final contrasted a medium-full-to-full, 6 1/2 x 56 Nicaraguan Perfecto with a full, 5 1/4 x 50 Dominican Robusto. Padrón was a sun-grown natural Nicaraguan puro; Angel's Share was a Dominican puro led by a middle-priming Chateau de la Fuente OpusX wrapper.

Construction, draw, burn, flavor complexity and finish all tied at perfect 5.0 scores. Balance created the only separation: Padrón won 5.0 to 4.5. That half-point produced a 30.0 to 29.5 Championship victory and completed the tournament's only perfect 7-0 campaign.

Padrón began with cocoa, cedar and roasted coffee on a cold draw with easy, controlled resistance. Dark cocoa, toasted cedar, espresso and measured black pepper formed a rich opening. Coffee developed into mocha as walnut, earth and natural sweetness emerged before dark chocolate, espresso, seasoned oak and refined pepper completed the progression.

Angel's Share began with cedar, cinnamon, dried fruit and sweet tobacco on the cold draw. Sweet cedar, baking spice, white pepper, cream and fruit sweetness created an aromatic opening. Caramel, toasted nuts and cinnamon deepened the center before oak, espresso and pepper rose while the cigar's signature sweetness continued.

Both finalists shared cedar, espresso, oak, pepper and natural sweetness. Padrón expressed those elements through dark cocoa, mocha, walnut, earth and dark chocolate with a deep, composed character. Angel's Share was brighter and more aromatic through cinnamon, dried fruit, cream, caramel and toasted nuts.

Where the Championship Was Decided

The technical categories produced a complete deadlock. Construction, draw and burn tied 5.0 to 5.0. Padrón delivered an excellent draw, straight burn and dense ash, while Angel's Share supplied excellent airflow, precise combustion and elegant ash. Both finalists earned perfect marks for championship-level control.

Complexity and finish extended the tie at 5.0 to 5.0. Padrón moved through cocoa, cedar, espresso, mocha, walnut, earth, sweetness, dark chocolate and seasoned oak before a long, smooth and luxurious close. Angel's Share layered cedar, cinnamon, fruit, cream, caramel, nuts, oak and espresso before an exceptionally long, sweetly spiced finish.

Balance decided the Championship 5.0 to 4.5. Angel's Share remained beautifully composed and earned an Outstanding score, but Padrón integrated strength, body, aroma and flavor without a visible seam. That perfect balance score created the only half point on the final card.

Padrón 60th Anniversary Perfecto defeated Fuente Fuente OpusX Angel's Share 30.0 to 29.5 and became the official 2026 Cigar of the Year. The Championship victory completed a 7-0 record and left Padrón as the tournament's only Legendary 30.0 cigar.

Angel's Share finished #2 overall as the 2026 Runner-Up with a 6-1 record. Its Exceptional 29.5 evaluation, six victories and three elimination-round wins established it as a worthy finalist whose only loss came to the perfect champion.

Angel's Share delivered a nearly flawless Championship performance. It matched Padrón in construction, draw, burn, complexity and finish while presenting a distinctive progression of cedar, cinnamon, fruit, cream, caramel, nuts, oak and espresso. Five perfect ties confirmed the quality of the Runner-Up.

Padrón earned the crown because its final layer of control was absolute. The cigars were equal technically, equally complex and equally complete at the finish; Padrón alone received a perfect balance score.
