The stakes were direct. An Ashton victory would complete a 2-1 group record and secure the second Top 16 position behind Padrón. A Firewalker victory would move CAO to 1-1, keep its advancement path alive and turn the final Group A matchup into a qualifier.
The cigars also represented opposing ideas of character. Ashton VSG brought the polished power of a Dominican luxury classic. Firewalker brought a more unconventional Nicaraguan profile built around Masatepe filler fermented through the traditional chincagre process.

Ashton VSG opened with toasted cedar, dark earth, black pepper and bittersweet cocoa. Espresso, leather and baking spice deepened the middle, while dried-fruit sweetness kept the Sorcerer's full-bodied profile composed. Pepper and charred oak increased late, but cocoa and leather remained present through a long, spicy and slightly sweet finish.
Firewalker began with dry cedar, earth, pepper and a mild herbal quality. Toasted tobacco, oak, black pepper and light cocoa formed a rustic opening. Roasted nuts, coffee and a faint mineral note followed before wood, pepper and char grew stronger as the earlier sweetness receded.
CAO's chincagre-fermented Masatepe tobacco made Firewalker one of the most recognizable cigars in the Official 32. Ashton answered that originality with control: richer transitions, more effortless mechanics and a closing section that retained more layers as the strength increased.
Where the Matchup Was Decided

Ashton VSG defeated CAO Arcana Firewalker, completed Group A at 2-1 and secured the group's second Top 16 berth. The result confirmed Ashton as the runner-up behind Padrón 60th Anniversary Perfecto.
Firewalker fell to 0-2. With only one matchup remaining, CAO could no longer reach Ashton's two victories and was eliminated from advancement. It later lost to My Father Le Bijou 1922 Toro in M6 and finished group play at 0-3.
Ashton advanced to face Oliva Serie V Melanio Figurado in the Top 16. Its tournament ended there, but the 2-1 group performance ultimately placed Ashton VSG #9 overall and inside the competition's Final Top 10.

CAO Arcana Firewalker deserved its place in the tournament because it offered something genuinely different. The volcanic fermentation story, rustic earthiness and mineral character gave the cigar an identity that could not be mistaken for another Group A entry.
Ashton VSG won because its distinction was supported by more complete execution. The Sorcerer's construction, draw, complexity and finish all reached the top of the Ashology scale, allowing its full-bodied strength to remain refined from the first third through the finish.
M5 showed the difference between being consistently strong and being strong enough to advance. Firewalker delivered six outstanding categories. Ashton added four exceptional ones, and those peaks secured its place in the Top 16.
